Conduit Program: some more info, and FAQ…

What is it?

The Conduit program has been in development since 2015, since Central Business Associates opened its doors.
It began as a basic idea to find a way to help micro businesses and sole traders to access services at an affordable rate. I often meet people (and in the early days I was in the same situation) who are trying to do everything in the business themselves, and find it really frustrating, and it takes them such a long time to do as it’s not really their expertise , and it was keeping them from being able to do whatever their specialist work was….
However, they felt the business had not yet grown sufficiently to warrant paying a specialist. (does this all sound familiar?…)
All very time-consuming, and draining, and actually quite demotivating….  But they battled on….

How to Solve the Problem..
As the business grew and my network expanded, I became conscious that most of the skills that people struggled with were right there – in the network – all the specialist skills….
So I started to do the obvious thing and pass details to the relevant people and match them up so they could help each other. This seemed to work for a while, but I began to realise there were new frustrations building – sometimes the individuals still felt they couldn’t afford the specialist services, or maybe they weren’t quite sure what they wanted; and the specialist person would sometimes become frustrated because the client didn’t seem to really know what they wanted, and they’d spend a long time trying to help them figure out what they wanted – sometimes the client had no clear direction to understand themselves what they needed – they actually needed a bit of guidance to clarify their needs, or their goals, or their services….. They were so bogged down trying to do everything, that they had lost the required insight to re-focus the business and move forward.
So I spent some time figuring out ways to make the process easier for the service user – to really clarify what their needs were.
Now when we go to the relevant service provider (surprisingly sometimes NOT the one the service user thinks they want in the first place…) we have a clear plan of what is needed. This, being much easier, and less time-consuming for the provider to fulfil, allows the costs to be reduced for the service user! WIN-WINWIN!

Frequently Asked Questions

Q. What if I am an existing Associate Member with Central Business Associates?
A. You can upgrade your Membership to the Conduit Program for only $50 per annum, and access all the extra benefits (workshops, service discounts, etc)

Q. How many hours of discounted service do I get?
A. This is entirely decided by each individual Service Provider, but will be made clear to you when you discuss your requirements with them.

Q. What if I’d like to use the services, but also offer my services?
A. If you would like to become a Service User AND a Service Provider, you would pay an extra $50 per annum.
N.B. Service Users must apply for membership, as not everyone offers a service that is needed through the Conduit program. You will still be able to advertise on the Business Directory

Q. If I have any issues or enquiries with the service I receive, do I contact the Service Provider or Central Business Associates?
A. Your agreement will be entirely with the Service Provider, so any questions would be directed to them.
