I moved to Wynnum in 2011, and immediately loved the community spirit in the area. Having previously chaired two community groups, I wanted to become involved locally and meet some local business contacts, so I joined a local networking group, Bayside Women in Business, in May 2013. Soon after, I started running a second regular monthly event for the group, a morning coffee networking event. The membership has soared to over 500, and the group continues to be a huge support to many local business women.
With a strong background in Customer Service Management, I was considering my next career move, and began to get a strong feeling that there was a need locally for a place to network AND work at the same time, and the idea for the business centre began to take shape.
Recognising two growth markets within Australia – Customer Service and Flexible Working, and having significant experience in both areas, my subsequent research led me to believe that the point of difference in what I was creating was the genuine sense of community I wanted to embody and encourage. This area has a high number of small to medium enterprises, but people had no clear ‘communal’ area to network. Central Business Associates has provided a central, local point for these people to come together, collaborate, and feel part of something bigger. These business owners/entrepreneurs can retain their individuality, but feel strongly supported by a ‘team’ of experts.
