Building a Bridge from Burnout to Balance: How to sustainably grow a business that fits your life

I don’t attend many networking groups regularly these days.

That’s not because I don’t value connection – quite the opposite. I’m just no longer going to ‘meet new prospective clients’. I’m more likely to be there to support someone I already work with – a client or colleague who’s sponsoring, speaking, or who simply doesn’t want to walk in on their own. Or maybe I’m seeking out a specialist because I’ve noticed a gap in my network.

This organisation is one of the rare exceptions I keep going back to.

Every time I go, I’m greeted by genuinely lovely people, and I always feel welcome – regardless of how introverted I’m feeling on the day. There’s an ease to the conversations, curiosity in the air, and a sense that you can show up as yourself, not just as your job title or elevator pitch.

That sense of belonging and support is a big part of why I wanted to share this article here.

This article was originally published last year as part of their Limelight Business Directory, and in it I relayed a very real chapter of my business journey – when I moved from burnout to a more sustainable, balanced way of working.

I reflected on what burnout can look like for small business owners, how easy it is to normalise being constantly ‘on’, and why redefining success on your own terms matters more than ticking traditional growth boxes. I also explored the role of connection and community – not as a nice‑to‑have, but as a practical strategy for building a business that actually supports your life.

Head on over to read the original article, and if you are interested in one of their upcoming events, you can check the dates here.
